Crisi umanitarie e conflitti - 6. ed.

Since the end of the Cold War, the form of armed conflicts has changed profoundly: from the traditional conflicts between states, we have mainly witnessed civil wars for independence and internal clashes. To date, moreover, the concepts of security and crisis of states are increasingly intertwined with issues concerning fragility, the humanitarian sphere, the violation of fundamental rights, of governance systems. The persistence or reinvigoration of conflicts that have sometimes frozen, or that have recently exploded, suggests that the situation in the disputed territories is constantly evolving.

The specialization course in hybrid mode in "Crisi umanitarie e conflitti" aims to deepen knowledge and understand the role of the actors involved in peace processes and crisis management thanks to specific case studies. Furthermore, the main new analytical paradigms will be analyzed with the aim of providing the tools necessary to understand and explain the dynamics of conflict and cooperation in the legal and institutional framework at an international level.

The program is aimed at bachelor's and master's degree students, as well as young graduates, who are interested in security issues and who intend to develop their professionalism on these issues. It will take place in Italian (with the possibility of some modules in English) in the afternoon slot of 21-22-23-24 November 2023 in online mode. Assistance and tutoring will be provided to the participants for laboratory activities and for the elaboration of the exercises.

The course is limited to a maximum of 25 attendees. The Institute reserves the right to postpone the course if the minimum number of participants required for its launch is not reached.

The registration fee is € 449,00 (VAT included).

For IAI Junior Members and Lazio Youth Card holders there is a 10% discount. For Ministry of Defense Employees or by submitting an "Early Application" to the courses that make up the Advanced Certificates of the I and II Semesters, there is the possibility of a 15% discount on the total fee, against immediate enrolment to be paid in a single payment.

Thanks to the contribution of the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, two scholarships are also provided to cover the entire enrollment fee, to be paid based on income and merit. The course on “Crisi umanitarie e conflitti” is part of the Advanced Certificate for “Gestione delle Crisi Internazionali”, an in-depth and detailed path on the methodologies and practices of intervention in crisis and conflict contexts.
