Culture and memory in international relations - Japanese and Italian Perspectives
28/03/2019, Rome, Istituto Affari Internazionali
The symposium on 'Culture and Memory in International Relations: Japanese and Italian Perspectives' - supported by the Japan Foundation - aims to shed light on current dynamics in East Asia through the prisms of history and culture. Decades after the end of World War II, East Asia continues to struggle with lingering animosities and unresolved historical grievances at the domestic, bilateral and regional levels. The symposium presents Japanese and Italian perspectives - including discussion of the distinctive approach by the Vatican - on reconciliation between East Asian states.
