Europe, Italy and the Gulf. A discussion with Luigi Di Maio, the EUSR for the Gulf

On 4^th June a close-door meeting, structured as an informal discussion, took place at the IAI. It had engaged the EUSR for the Gulf, GCC Ambassadors, Italian representatives and private firms in a dialogue on opportunities for Europe to support ongoing areas of bilateral engagement between Italy-Gulf and explore potential for cooperation of Europe, Italy and the Gulf in third countries and regions.

EU-GCC relations are entering in a new phase. Areas of cooperation have multiplied in the field of energy, technology, trade, security and people-to-people relations. Europe and the Gulf have also recently engaged in a join diplomatic effort to put an end to the conflict in Gaza and ensure peace and stability in the region.
