Il governo Meloni alla prova
Following last year's success, IAI presents the 2023 edition of its annual Italian Foreign Policy Report by organizing a themed panel discussion that will feature politicians, journalists and national experts.
The report, developed as part of the Strategic Partnership with the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, is the result of the work of a group of researchers at the Institute coordinated by Italy's Foreign Policy Program. The 2023 edition of the report examines the main issues addressed in the international arena by Giorgia Meloni's government - relations with allies and European institutions, the continuation of the war against Ukraine, energy and climate policies, increased migratory pressure, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict - and their implications for the main directions of Italian foreign policy – besides the European pillar, the Mediterranean perspective and the transatlantic alliance. Specific attention is paid to the contribution to the European and Atlantic security system, the strategy towards the enlarged Mediterranean area, relations with China after the exit from the Memorandum of Understanding and the Italian role in multilateral organizations and development cooperation.
The event is an opportunity not only to discuss what Italy's foreign policy was in 2023 but also to identify its possible directions of development and critical nodes in 2024.
