Internet, libertà di espressione e democrazia in Europa

The Internet has provided an unprecedented volume of resources for information and knowledge that opens up new opportunities for expression and citizens’ participation, benefiting democracies at large. At the same time, however, the Internet and the diffusion of fake news are also challenging democracies and many social media are now trying to introduce more stringent rules. Legal and regulatory trends, especially if implemented by private companies and not by elected governments, might be constraining online freedom of expression. Within this framework, the event aims to analyse online freedom of expression and democracy in Italy, the European Union and the Western Balkans.
