On Order and Dis-Order: The Middle East in 2019

The seminar will explore the ongoing and future developments in the Middle East amidst the growing destruction of the old regional order. Particular attention will be devoted to the case of Syria and to the ramifications of the conflict there, by analyzing the stances and interests of a number of regional and international players. A further point that will be addressed in the talk concerns the nature and the sustainability of the alliances in and on the region. This is a key aspect to assess to grasp the future regional order.
