Politiche energetiche italiane alla prova della crisi energetica e le ambizioni climatiche
The event aims to explore the strategic choices Italy faces in light of multiple energy and climate challenges. The energy crisis and the war in Ukraine have revived energy security as a political priority, with the need to increase diversification of energy supplies. The reconfiguration of energy flows presents risks but also opportunities. In this regard, the Italian government has expressed its ambitions to make Italy an energy hub (the so-called Mattei Plan), taking advantage of its geographic location, political and economic relations and infrastructure connecting Europe and the southern shores of the Mediterranean and Africa. Meanwhile, the climate commitment made in Europe has been further strengthened, and the crisis poses the need to accelerate the transition for enhancing energy security as well. The need to reconcile the need for energy security with that of climate ambition will lead to reconsideration and evaluation of Italy's various policies and strategies.
This meeting, organised with the support of the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, is part of a broader project promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation: Riforme europee e priorità dell’Italia: linee strategiche per una nuova governance europea alla luce del conflitto ucraino.
