Security, Nuclear Weapons and the Impact of the War in Ukraine
IAI and the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP), in cooperation with the University of Turin, hold a 2-hour event discussing arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament and the impact of the war in Ukraine on these issues. The was held both in-person at Campus Luigi Einaudi (Lungodora Siena 100A, sala lauree blu grande) and online via CISCO WebEx.
The participants join IAI and VCDNP experts as they discuss the current geopolitical landscape, especially considering the impact of the war in Ukraine, assess the threat of nuclear weapons, including their potential use, and offer background as well as observations on the non-proliferation regime and existing disarmament efforts. The event also included an overview of the work of the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium (EUNPDC), and information on opportunities to become engaged in the field by highlighting various fellowships, internships, and initiatives.
Speakers include Ettore Greco and Manuel Herrera from IAI and Elena Sokova, Nikolai Sokov and Federica Dall'Arche from VCDNP. Professor Stefano Ruzza, Associate Professor of Political Science (University of Turin and T.wai - Torino World Affairs Institute), moderates the event.
