Seminar on Italy’s defence policy with the UK embassy in Italy

On January 15th 2025 IAI hosted a seminar in partnership with the UK Embassy in Italy and the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, focused on Italian defence policy. Around 50 members of the Advanced Command and Staff Course (ACSC) of the Defence Academy attended the event at IAI premises in Rome, as part of their Regional Security Exercise in Italy.

During the seminar held under Chatham House Rule, participants addressed relevant topics of Italian defence policy and Anglo-Italian bilateral relations such as armed forces deployment, industrial policy and military procurement, Italian view on the “enlarged Mediterranea”, NATO, the interplay between domestics politics and defence policies, as well as specific cooperative programmes involving Rome and London such as the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP).
