In this area, the IAI has long studied the evolution of global challenges and the role that the various international organisations – the UN and its agencies, the financial institutions, the WTO, etc. – can play in addressing them. Particular attention is paid to forums such as the G7 and the G20. Also central are the prospects of reforming the multilateral cooperation system and its necessary adaptation to a changing international scenario. In economic terms, we particularly focus on studying the impact and management of new financial instruments, issues connected with international trade, and the dynamics involving the internationalisation of companies. We also conduct a series of studies covering arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation.

Ongoing projects include work on: international political economy, global governance and Non-proliferation and disarmament
