Algeria, Bouteflika leaves but remains

On Monday, 11 March, in a press release, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika - back in his country after two weeks in hospital in Switzerland - announced his decision not to run for a fifth term as president and then postponed the elections. This decision followed mass protests by students and citizens since the beginning of the month.
