From Brussels to Paris, a vision for Europe
Before and after Germany's elections - waiting for Angela Merkel to take back the reins of a frayed European Union - Jean-Claude Juncker and Emmanuel Macron set out their plans to relaunch the EU. They both called for a more integrated Europe, a stronger eurozone and a common defence strategy. But while the Commission President pushed for a single-speed Europe, with a single EU budget, the French President revived the idea of a differentiated integration.
