EU: the end of a challenging year

2017 has been a challenging year for the EU, facing a surge in authoritarian populism within its member States, dealing with crucial national elections and trying to ease the many disputes over migrants (as in the case of the last European Council summit). According to the "New Pact for Europe" report, EU needs to agree on a new deal, reflecting the distinctive interests and aspirations of member states and citizens.
