The European political space

There are many constraints on the development of a European political space, however the mobilisation of the nationalist right might give the current election campaign a stronger transnational character than previous ones. It must be admitted though that a European political space is gradually opening up. This is due to two interrelated developments: the “nationalisation” of European politics and the “europeanisation” of national politics.
