Global actors - Internships 2024-25

 

IAI seeks an intern for the “Global actors” department.

Eligibility

Candidates must be enrolled in the final year of a Master's degree in one of the following faculties: Economics, Political Science, International Relations and Diplomacy, Literature and Philosophy

Duration
Three months, indicatively from October 2024 to January 2025, from February to May 2025 and from June to September 2025.

Requirements

  • Keen interest and knowledge of historical political, social and economic dynamics of the Americas and / or Asia, with particular reference to the United States and / or Russia and / or East Asia (China, Japan, Korea) and the South -East Asia
  • Understanding of Asia-EU relations, EU foreign policy in Asia and the foreign policy of the USA and / or Russia and / or China, Japan, South Korea
  • Proficiency in English and Italian (spoken and written); knowledge of Russian and / or Chinese will be an asset
  • An Internship agreement between the University and the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) (an agreement undersigned by the legal representatives of the University and the IAI, and by the intern, containing rights and duties of the parties), already signed or to be created.


Activities

The intern will be involved in various IAI projects according to the needs of the Global Actors programme. He/she will conduct research using a range of sources including internet, specialized journals, the press, and official documents. When requested, he/she will produce briefs/memos for internal use. He/she will also be asked to write a book review in English for the IAI English-language journal, The International Spectator, or the IAI online magazine, AffarInternazionali.it. Alongside research, the intern must be available to perform other tasks necessary for the implementation of research projects (translations, gathering of documentation, etc.). The intern will also participate in conferences and seminars organised by IAI.

Only selected candidates will be contacted for an interview to be held by 10 September 2024.

Terms and conditions

The internship is not remunerated.
The selected candidate will be offered the opportunity to attend one of the Institute's training courses free of charge.
The start of the chosen course must fall within the calendar year calculated from the internship start date.
If the period of the chosen course coincides in whole or in part with the internship, the hours of attendance are not included in those foreseen for the internship.
The internship could take place in smart-working or hybrid mode.
