Radar Youth Lab

The RADAR project aims to investigate the spread of disinformation in the European Union and specific national contexts. As part of this project, a Youth Lab will be held on May 10, 2023, at Collegio Carlo Alberto.

This interactive workshop between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm is designed for young people between the 18 and 30 years-old and aims to explore the relationship between migration and political narratives. The Youth Lab will be conducted in English.

Participants will be urged not only to reflect on the relationship between migration and political narratives, but also to provide policy-relevant solutions to address disinformation at the national and EU-level. They will work together in plenary and smaller groups to develop recommendations, and two selected Youth ambassadors will deliver them in Brussels at two concluding high-level events on February 1 and 2, 2024.

The Youth Lab is open to all enthusiastic young people residing in EU Member States, and organisers will cover travel, food, and lodging expenses for those coming from outside of Italy (up to 500 euros per person). A separate reimbursement package will cover the coming of Youth Ambassadors to Brussels.

Although the focus is to bring together European youth organisation representatives, anyone who is interested in contributing to the future of the EU and combating disinformation is welcome to join the event.

Programme

To be eligible for the Youth Lab:
- Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years old;
- Applicants must express interest on disinformation, migration or EU policy-making;
- Applicants must have a residency in a Member State of the EU;
- Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English.

What is RADAR?

RADAR stands for Raising Awareness of Disinformation and Achieving Resilience. It is a project funded by the EU (CERV-2022-CITIZENS-CIV) and coordinated by the Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA) from 2022 to 2024. Throughout 2023, RADAR will hold ten events in five EU Member States, each focusing on a different policy area related to disinformation, such as climate change, democratic processes, LGBTI+ rights, foreign interference, and migration and asylum. The Istituto Affari Internazionali is responsible for organising two national events in Italy, a Public Debate and a Youth Lab, both of which will address disinformation in relation to migration. The project will culminate with two concluding events in Brussels in 2024, where Youth Ambassadors selected from each national Youth Lab will present their policy recommendations to high-level EU policy-makers and experts.
