Regional Shifts and Domestic Transformations in the MENA

New IAI papers in the EU-funded MENARA project, present the foundational research for an in-depth and long-term study of regional geopolitical shifts in the Middle East and North Africa. Starting from a selection of key material datasets on MENA countries, papers examine the primary historical trends and drivers affecting the region and the role of values, ideas and identities in the constructions of a MENA regional order. Launched in 2016, the MENARA project is co-directed by IAI and CIDOB, and aims to re-conceptualize understandings of the MENA while mapping potential medium and long term scenarios affecting the region and EU policy therein.
