Women and Non-Proliferation

On 29 April 2021, IAI and the VCDNP will hold the Second Outreach Event of the “Young Women and Next Generation Initiative”. The event will see the participation of Federica Mogherini (Rector of the College of Europe, former EU HR/VP), Marjolijn van Deelen (Special Envoy for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation, EEAS), Sibylle Bauer (Chair, EUNPD Consortium /Director of Studies, SIPRI). The event will be moderated by Elena Sokova (VCDNP Executive Director) with welcome remarks by Ettore Greco (Executive Vice President of IAI).

The panellists will discuss the role of Europe and in particular the European Union in the field of non-proliferation, arms control and disarmament. Focusing on the EU's role in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action negotiations, multilateral fora and the work of the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium and Network, they will offer insights based on their respective experiences. Participants will also discuss how the field has changed over the years and will offer thoughts on how to engage more women and young people in this work.
