Countering Chinese Disinformation in Italy
In recent years, Chinese leadership has made great efforts to mold elite and public opinion abroad, including in Italy, by developing a more assertive approach and new ways of communicating with foreign audiences. Through interviews of leading international experts in the field of China’s political communication, public diplomacy, propaganda and disinformation, this project shed light on the contents of China’s official communication on a number of key and crucial issues. In particular, the interviews focused on the following four topics: Russia-PRC relations and the war in Ukraine; China’s rise and the Belt and Road Initiative; China’s political and propaganda system as well as China’s soft power strategy; China’s human rights issues.
