IAI Research: Middle East and North Africa

Three IAI papers examine recent developments in the MENA region, focusing on Iraq, EU policy and the discovery of energy resources in the Eastern Mediterranean. Published in the framework of different IAI projects, a first paper analyses the challenges of forging an inclusive and non-sectarian Iraqi national identity. The second paper outlines the conceptual and methodological guidelines for the MEDREST project while deconstructing the EU discourse on the Mediterranean. Finally, a third paper examines the regional and international implications tied to the discovery of energy resources in the territorial waters of Israel, Cyprus and Egypt.
