L’impatto del conflitto russo-ucraino sulla sicurezza del Southern Flank della NATO: Turchia e Grecia

This essay analyses the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict on the security of NATO’s Southern Flank with a special focus on the role of Turkey and Greece. In the first part, after an historical introduction of the reasons why Turkey joined NATO in 1952, the analysis focuses on current events, such as grain deal and food security, framing Turkey’s role in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. In the second part, after a brief historical description of the reasons for Greece’s entry, parallel to Turkey, into NATO, the analysis focuses on more recent issues, with a reflection on Greece’s role in the Atlantic Alliance in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
