Italians and Foreign Policy

Italians are attentive to what is happening in the outside world, but concerned about the consequences of global problems on national interests and about the low weight of Italy in the world. They are aware of the constraints in Europe, but uncertain and skeptical about the future of Europe. Italians are pacifists and, in principle, multilateralist, but disinclined to accept onerous international commitments. The relationship between Italians and international relations is complex and not without difficulties and contradictions. This is what emerges, in summary, in the survey conducted by the Laboratory on Social and Political Analysis (LAPS) on behalf of the Istituto affari internazionali (IAI).
