The Geopolitics of Digital
Continuing a line of research on digital and cyber policies that dates back to 2011, this research project aims to analyse the evolution of digital security from a European and Italian point of view, with emphasis on the ethics of algorithms, non-proliferation in the cyber field, digital governance, digital economy, international judicial collaboration and "smart cities" as a security/data protection model.
The project, in its second year, focuses especially on "digital sovereignty", with particular regard to the European Union and transfer of data to the US.
The first research results have been published in a volume as well as in several essays and articles.
The volume, titled “La geopolitica del digitale”, edited by Jean-Pierre Darnis and Carolina Polito, was launched at a conference in Turin, in November 2019, in cooperation with the Centro Studi sul Federalismo, and then in Rome in a web meeting in March 2020, with the participation of On. Manlio Di Stefano and Amb. Laura Carpini.
The project ended in March 2021.
