The Republic of Korea (ROK)-G7 Cooperation Forum

2023 - 2024

The project focused on organising a forum on the topic of cooperation between the Republic of Korea and the G7 member countries, with the addition of Australia. The forum, held in May 2024, was attended by former civil servants and experts from academic institutions, think tanks and the private sector from these nine countries. In detail, the forum aimed to explore new opportunities for collaboration between these countries by focusing on three macro-areas: ‘Convergence on International Security between the Republic of Korea and G7 countries’; ‘Cooperation in Science & Technology between the Republic of Korea and G7 countries’; and ‘Cooperation on Multidimensional Security in the Indo-Pacific within the G7 Plus Framework’. The first two areas were discussed during two sessions open to the public. The third was discussed during a closed session, conducted according to the Chatham House rule. Following the event, IAI will produce a final report that will include lists of participants, summaries of speeches and discussions held during the forum, photographic material produced during the event, and other relevant documentation related to the event.
