Transatlantic Security Symposium - 11. ed.
The 11th edition of IAI's Transatlantic Security Symposium took place in Rome on 28 October 2019 at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The closed-door workshop – The New Great Power Game. Transatlantic Relations and Multipolar Competition – was attended by experts, academics and heads of Policy Planning or members of the staff of the Policy Planning Units of the foreign ministries of the US, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Turkey and the UK, as well as the EU and NATO. The debate focused on the evolution of the transatlantic relationship in the light of changing domestic trends in both Europe and America as well as the systemic shifts brought about by China's rise and Russia's growing estrangement from the West.
IAI organized the initiative in cooperation with the Policy Planning Unit of Italy's foreign ministry and with the support of the Compagnia di San Paolo, the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (Rome Office), and the US Embassy to Italy.
