In terms of online protection of citizens, the European Union is doing something brand new with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The new privacy and consensus regime has two significant side effects. On the one hand, today the world is looking at the EU as a model. But on the other hand, the limitation on the collection of data and on platforms' action could create new costs for companies. In fact, the GDPR could become a handicap for business.
