The G20 High-Level Conference on Local Infrastructure Investment
The G20 High-Level Conference on Local Infrastructure Investment was co-organised by the Italian G20 Presidency, IAI and the Municipality of Genoa.
The conference featured high-level representatives of the Italian government, including Daniele Franco, Minister of Economy and Finance; Enrico Giovannini, Minister of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility (virtual mode) and Roberto Cingolani, Minister for Ecological Transition.
The event gathered representatives of local administrative authorities from G20 countries, International Organizations, Multilateral Development Banks and C-level private sector representatives, to exchange views on how to build more sustainable and inclusive local infrastructure. It also provided the opportunity to rethink the priorities of the G20 infrastructure agenda from the perspective of sub-national entities, to understand their specific challenges and to assess the policy solutions that they can pursue.
The conference was articulated in two sessions: the first focusing on how to boost local infrastructure financing, the second on the promotion of local sustainable and greener infrastructure, and was hosted by the City of Genoa at the Magazzini del Cotone of the Porto Antico.
