The war against Ukraine and European security
The project examines the implications of the war against Ukraine on the security structure in Europe and the conditions for rebuilding a strategic balance through new deterrence relationships and new regimes and agreements on arms control as well as trust-building and security measures. The project is divided into three converging lines of research concerning the transatlantic dimension (within the Global Actors Programme), through a dedicated discussion as part of the annual Transatlantic Symposium; the European dimension (within the Multilateralism and Global Governance Programme), which will focus on the consequences of the war in Ukraine for the future of non-proliferation and arms control in Europe; and the national dimension (within the Italian Foreign Policy Programme), which will analyse the results of the previous dimensions by bringing the focus back onto the implications for Italian foreign policy.
