Derisking delle catene del valore necessarie alle transizioni verde e digitale: l’azione dell’Italia nell’UE
The geopolitical and geoeconomic shocks of the recent years have exposed the vulnerabilities of value chains and the EU’s strategic dependence on other global actors, such as China and the United States. The European Union has recently taken a number of measures to reduce the risks of value chains (de-risking) and to gain strategic autonomy, particularly in sectors with a higher risk of dependence. This project will investigate the vulnerabilities of the semiconductor and critical minerals value chains, the legislative and policy frameworks in place to increase resilience of value chains, to then compare them with the initiatives undertaken by the United States and explore synergies and opportunities for greater coordination. The project will involve meetings with the main stakeholders from the Italian private sector active the sector of microchip production and in the critical minerals value chain. IAI will conduct six studies, presented at the Institute’s annual Transatlantic Symposium and subsequently published under the IAI Papers series.
Under the project, three IAI programmes will collaborate, namely Global actors, Energy, climate and resources, and Multilateralism and global governance.
