Defence Matters 2014

The project intended to enlarge and enhance the Italian public debate on defence issues, by focusing on the relation between national interests and the Atlantic Alliance.
Based on the conclusions from Defence Matters 2013 project, which analyzed the characters and actors of domestic debate on defence, in 2014 two main streams of work have been carried on by the research team. The first one was the elaboration and publication of the paper Italian Interests and Nato: from Missions to Trenches?. The second was the organisation of a seminar and a public conference in Rome, as well as of a number of meetings in Italian universities, to foster the dialogue among different interlocutors such as politicians, academics, think tankers, private sector, media, armed forces and civil servants, as well as students. The paper and the reports of the seminar and the conference have been published both in Italian and English.
