Defence Matters 2015

The project aims to stimulate the national public debate on a double focus: the Nato role in the current security environment, and the implication of the Italian White Book on International Security and Defence for Italy’s external projection. Based on the positive experience from the previous Defence Matters projects undertaken in 2013 and 2014, in 2015 two complementary streams of activities are foreseen. First, the elaboration of a IAI paper on the Nato path towards the next summit of the Heads of States and Governments scheduled in Warsaw in 2016, and on Italian defence policy in relation to the Alliance and in light of the White Book. Second, the engagement of different interlocutors (politicians, academics, think tankers, private sector, media, armed forces and civil servants, as well as students) to share and increase the awareness of defence issues, through seminars, conferences, and a number of meetings in Italian universities.
