Foreign Policy Governance in Europe-Research Network. Modernising, Widening and Deepening Research on a Vital pillar of the EU (FORNET)

2003 - 2005

FORNET was a project aimed at setting up a network for European research on governance in the field of Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), based on the interaction among various research centres and academic institutions. The project was supported by the European Commission and coordinated by the European Foreign Policy Unit of the London School of Economics (LSE), the Institute of European Studies of the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona, the Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA) in Brussels and the Jean Monnet Chair for Political Science at the University of Cologne. The project lasted for three years, from January 2003 to December 2005.
As part of the project, the IAI organised in March 2004 a seminar of the Working Group 2, in occasion of the Conference on “Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Role of the European Parliament".
Although Commission funding has ended, several of FORNET’s activities continue within the framework of the European Commission funded EU-CONSENT research network. Within this project, the IAI was responsible for updating the website of the FORNET project (www. fornet.info), taking care of the CFSP Forum, an online bi-monthly magazine on common foreign policy and security within the EU.
