Global Health Security and Malaria: Strengthening Resilience in a climate change and AMR World
This project examines the fight for the elimination of malaria as a case study for the broader debates that the global health community is currently engaged in, such as the climate change and health nexus, pandemic preparedness and response, and anti-microbial resistance and innovation. The changing landscape of malaria is studied in relation to the shifting global health architecture and governance, the emergence of new actors in the field of pandemics and the evolving role of existing global health partnerships, such as the Pandemic Fund and Gavi. Particular attention is devoted to the role of G7 under the Italian Presidency in supporting the fight against malaria as part of its wider Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda. The project includes a policy paper providing an overview of the state of play of the fight against malaria and a set of recommendations for the 2024 G7 Italian Presidency, and a public meeting with the participation of leading health experts and stakeholders.
