La collaborazione col Regno Unito nella difesa e sicurezza dopo la Brexi

2021 - 2021

Italy and the United Kingdom have always been able to count on a strong collaboration in the defence and security sector, which is now inevitably being affected by the UK’s exit from the European Union. Thanks to the support of the Italian Industries Federation for Aerospace, Defence and Security (Federazione Aziende Italiane per l'Aerospazio, la Difesa e la Sicurezza - AIAD), IAI conducted a research project and published a study concerning the challenges posed by Brexit and potential solutions to be implemented both at national and international level.

The report is addressed to Italian political decision-makers, encouraging them to adoption a series of urgent of normative and legislative measures. The study was inspired by a previous research work which published by IAI in 2018, entitled “Looking Through the Fog of Brexit: Scenarios and Implications for the European Defence Industry”. Whilst this study already depicted a potential scenario characterised by a free trade agreement between the EU and the UK, IAI’s newest publication has a specific focus on Italy. In January 2021, IAI had also organised a webinar in Italian which hosted a discussion about the current and future cooperation between Rome and London, by taking into account the implications of the EU-UK deal as well as the specificities of the defence and security sector.
