EU crisis management: institutions and capabilities in the making
The research aims at examining the latest developments in the area of ESDP/CSDP and to outlininge future scenarios for crisis management carried out by the European Union.
Particular emphasis is placed on: 1) the capacity that the EU has developed in the civilian and military sectors and the level of coordination between the two components, in order to provide a closer view of civil-military cooperation; 2) the impact of the new European External Action Service on the European foreign and security policy; 3) the evolution of the democratic control over the European security and defence policies.
The study, promoted by the Fondazione Umberto Veronesi and produced by IAI, was presented at the second Science for Peace World Conference, which was held in Milan on November 18-19, 2010. The study is available also in Italian.
