EU-CIVCAP - Preventing and responding to conflict: developing EU CIVilian CAPabilities for a sustainable peace
Preventing the outbreak of conflicts and promoting a sustainable peace remains a key challenge for policy-makers and analysts. The EU and Member States should acquire adequate capabilities in order to handle the threats to security and stability in a timely and effective manner. The aim of this project was to collect, rationalise, enhance and disseminate elements of knowledge and education on conflict prevention and peace-building developed in the EU framework. To this end, the project included the production of policy papers, reports on best practices and lessons learned, the use of social media, the creation of a network of experts, and the organization of training courses and events. Within the scope of the project, which was coordinated by the University of Bristol and included eight partners among European and international universities and research centres, IAI led the Work package 2 on “Capabilities in conflict prevention and peace-building: technology, personnel and procedures”.
